A large meeting room is available for the exchange of experiences and know-hows among professionals interested in the protected areas.
Participants followed a detailed presentation on the Korab – Korritnik Nature Park values and the work and activities carried on by RAPA Kukës. The project NaturAl has been supporting the National Agency of Protected Areas (NAPA) in undertaking important steps for a better conservation of Albania’s natural heritage, in particular liaising with the Regional Administration for Protected Areas (RAPA) and relevant NGOs to preserve and enhance the values of protected areas. The project invested in several training and visitor centers and contributed significantly to raise the capacities of local authorities and NGOs to apply for available funds and run projects on sustainable use of natural resources, including the promotion of local products and tourism services (guest houses etc.).
The management plan of the Park was presented to the attendees and a printed summary was shared as a tool that will serve the experts and stakeholders to preserve Korab – Korritnik MNR more efficiently, and raise understanding of the local communities on the benefits that protected areas offer.
The inauguration ceremony of the new Training Centre in Kukës was followed by a fair of traditional and local products, proving once again the great potential this area has for sustainable tourism development.
