Protected Areas of Albania part of EU Day celebrations

Tirana’s Skanderbeg square was transformed in the Europe masterpiece on 9 May, where EU Member States’ embassies and EU funded projects in Albania joined the EU Village celebrating the Europe Day. Albanian Protected Areas were part of this event supported by NaturAl project.

The staff of Regional Agency of Protected Areas (RAPA) from Elbasan and Tirana joined the tent of NaturAl project, to promote the values and rich biodiversity of Albania and inform visitors about the importance of the protection of its nature.

A dedicated EU Kids corner invited the young ones to complete wildlife drawings and enjoy various promotional games. Children learned about the values of Albanian Protected Areas from their fellows from Librazhd attending Junior Rangers Programme supported by the project.

Caterina Carugati, NaturAl team leader and Ornela Poci from RAPA Elbasan were the panelists at the forum "How can we preserve the natural wonders of Albania?,“ as well as other EU environmental projects implemented in Albania. They informed the public about the status of Protected Areas in Albania and the activities of the project that support the work of National Agency of Protected Areas (NAPA) towards Natura 2000 Network.

The tent of NaturAl and NAPA attracted a lot of visitors, both local and international, interested to learn more about the recreation activities organized in Protected Areas of Albania.
